Break the Cycle of People-Pleasing
& Re-Discover Your SPARK
Reflection questions
- Is there a specific person at your current job that you need to have a conversation with in order for things to change (i.e. your boss, a co-worker or both)?
- On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your own boundary-setting skills with 1 being no boundaries at all and 10 having extremely healthy boundaries in your relationships. If you rate yourself below a 5, then setting a few boundaries to see if things change at work could be a great first step.
- Think of a typical day or week at work and take inventory of the stress or pressure you experience. Try to pinpoint exactly where it is coming from – is it coming from the workplace or IS IT SELF-INDUCED from an overdeveloped sense of responsibility and a need to always be the hero – feeling like you have to do and be everything to everyone?
- When was the last time you took vacation time? Or even took proper breaks during your work day? Sometimes we just might need a reset to avoid burnout if we have not been taking care of ourselves and our needs.
- Take a deeper look at your current job. Are you needing a change from what you do or do you like what you do, but just need a change of environment?
- If you are needing a complete change of scenery and feel like there is a tug inside for you to do more, here are some deeper things to ask yourself:
- What do you feel are your gifts and talents?
- What have others said are your strengths or what they like/admire about you?
- What do you feel “called” to do?
- What is one small step you can take today to move forward towards your dream goals?
